What a fully styled bio costs you
Screen readers announce styled Unicode character by character. A bio set entirely in fancy text is read out letter by letter, which makes it unusable for anyone relying on one — and Instagram gives you no way to provide a plain alternative.

Lines collapsing into one paragraph is the app stripping line breaks, not a problem with the characters. Paste the bio in from a notes app or edit it on the web instead of typing it in the app.
Two other failures have different causes. A bio that saves but appears cut off hit the 150-character limit, and line breaks and emojis count toward it. Boxes (☐) mean the reader's device has no glyph for that character — cursive, small caps and outline are the safe sets.
For the name field rather than the bio, the full generator counts against the shorter limit.
